Here's a Friday time waster as we head towards the weekend...

Blow At High Dough to close the show at the 1993 Montreal stop on the Another Roadside Attraction festival tour. The footage is from the VHS release Heksenketeldocumenting that tour. I'm not sure why this has never been re-released on DVD... You gotta figure that they have more footage laying around too... bonus features, eh?

The crowd is on point. This is the era when I came into the Hip and my first shows were actually in the 2 days right before this was shot... Get a load of how folks could just bring their coolers right in... and we wonder what's wrong with festivals in Canada today...

Friday night in Montreal. While there's lots to do, those in the know are down at Metropolis to see The Hip do what they do best. Rock it. We were given 6 more tour breakouts all coming in the second set. This pushes the tour play-list up to around 66. Little Bones and Nautical Disaster finally showed up on this tour 5 songs in. For the first time this tour Poets did not make an appearance in the setlist. Well done boys! Always leave them wanting more is the name of the game.

Tragically Hip @ Metropolis

The Hip have played a pair of shows at Montreal's Metropolis. Both came in November of 2006 on back-to-back nights near the beginning of the World Container tour. As such, WC songs were in heavy rotation. What is of note is the inclusion of 38 Years Old on the final night. This was the song's forth appearance since awakening a few months earlier at Historic Fort York on June 24th, from its 13 year slumber that began at the Markham Fairgrounds in 1993.

Metropolis holds approx. 2300 people and has a grand old theatre atmosphere complete with chandeliers and tiered seating creating a feeling of intimacy and connection between the band and the audience. The stage has been graced by the likes of David Bowie, The White Stripes, Coldplay, Bjork, Beck and Green Day to name but a few.

I wish I had The Luxury of seeing the Quebec shows. See past Metropolis setlists below...
