Hip Tour

Blow At High Dough - 1993/07/25 Montreal, QC

Pin It Now!

Here's a Friday time waster as we head towards the weekend...

Blow At High Dough to close the show at the 1993 Montreal stop on the Another Roadside Attraction festival tour. The footage is from the VHS release Heksenketeldocumenting that tour. I'm not sure why this has never been re-released on DVD... You gotta figure that they have more footage laying around too... bonus features, eh?

The crowd is on point. This is the era when I came into the Hip and my first shows were actually in the 2 days right before this was shot... Get a load of how folks could just bring their coolers right in... and we wonder what's wrong with festivals in Canada today...

Have a great weekend!

The Hip Covers Project: Melanie Morgan Band - Courage

Pin It Now!

OK, OK, OK....

Here's the 3rd instalment of The Hip Covers Project and this one doesn't come from somebody's basement. This is a production for sure. Now I'm not familiar with the Melanie Morgan Band or the show Cover Me Canada which looks like a reality/competition type of thing from CBC I believe.

Most of you have enjoyed the first two in this series and hopefully you'll enjoy this take too. Remember, I'm not looking for performances that replicate The Hip to a T. It doesn't even have to be completed in the same genre. This one will take up less than 2 minutes of your time and it will be presented to you be a female voice. The arrangements on this one haven't been changed much if at all.

Remember, this is all in fun. I'm not trying to find substitute performances for you to listen to FOREVER. I know a few of you get a little bent out of shape over these, but the shit ain't scripture. So take a breath and have a look....

Album: Now For Plan A (2012)
Notes: Goodnight Attawapiskat was played a fair bit live prior to the 'Now For Plan A Tour'. It was used as the set closer more often than not when it was played on Fall/Winter album tour.

Hello! Good evening folks we are the Silver Poets
Here in our thousand mile suits
We're here to get paid we know nobody ever got laid
Telling people what to do
We've come too far to feel like that
You've come too far to feel like that

Attawapiskat
City by the Bay!
There's no denying that
O Attawapiskat
You're on your way

And though there's no of a songbird up here yet
No one to take advantage of
We know that life is short nobody can afford it
To sing a song that they don't love
I've come too far to feel like this
You've come too far to feel like that

Attawapiskat
City by the Bay!
A diamond dazzling
O Attawapiskat
You're on your way

You're on your way
You're on your way
You're on the way

Oh Attawapiskat
Oh Goodnight Attawapiskat
Thank you! Goodnight!
Goodnight Attawapiskat
Oh Goodnight Attawapiskat
Goodnight Attawapiskat
Goodnight Attawapiskat
Goodnight Attawapiskat

Last played: 2012/11/06 Rochester, NY
Debut: 2012/11/06 Rochester, NY
Album: Now For Plan A (2012)
Notes: If you weren't in Rochester,NY on 2012/11/06 then you have never heard this one live.

Done and done
I never get my way
You always get your way
I never get my way

Done and done
Talk about me
I'll listen for hours
Cuz I don't know how it ends

We're through, through
Through and through
Yea, through, through
Through and through

Done and done
You always get your way
I never get my way
You always get your way

Done and done
Days accomplished
if I had a wish
It'd be for more of this

This through, through
Through and through
Yea, through, through
Through and through

Done and done
Night accomplished
If I had a wish
I'd wish for more of this

This through, through
This through and through
We're through, through
Yea, through and through

Take Forever - Lyrics

Pin It Now!

Last played: 2012/12/14 Anaheim, CA
Debut: 2012/02/16 Fort Albany, ON
Album: Now For Plan A (2012)

Notes: uummmmm.... played 4 times. If they're not gonna play Country Day, I don't see how they're gonna play this one in the future... maybe in Calgary???

Whenever a man
Whenever a man
Tries to be more like a machine
He breaks down
When I broke down
I always thought I'd go to Calgary

I am I am I am
I am in that chair
Hurtling through space
500 hundred miles an hour
And baby it could take forever
Baby it could take forever

I am
I am
The red light cutting through the clouds
Roar in
I land
All the secrets hide and come back out

I am I am I am
I am in this chair
Destroying all space
These are not good hours
And baby it could take forever
Baby it could take forever

Calgary to have my heart attack
Calgary the place to do it it's a fact
I'm homing in on your broken glow
If you're hurting no one would ever know

I am I am I am
I am in that chair
Hurtling through space
These are not good hour
And baby it could take forever
Baby it could take forever
Baby it could take
Baby it could take
Baby you could take forever
