After a week off we are back with the 10th installment of our series of Tragically Hip Covers. The last 2 performances have featured soloists and this time we are back to an ensemble.
The Temps are a cover band out of Victoris, BC. Their home base seems to be the Irish Times Pub so if you like what you hear that's where you should head provided that you are in or have access to the city of Victoria.
The song itself is a pretty straightforward version. Nothing to crazy like some of the other covers that been featured. The singer has a nice voice and does add some of his own flair to the song which I think works well. I kinda wish Gord would go back to proper cadence when he sings most songs... especially if he's insistent on screaming as opposed to singing some of the older tunes. Anyway, it's nice to hear this song being sung for whatever that's worth.
I've included the band's contact info below the video. They have more videos up on YouTube so there may be some other cover songs that might interest you. As always, there's links to all of the past featured performances in 'The Hip Covers Project' and if you haven't seen them yet there's some good ones. Some are quite different than The Hip's original version. The 'Locked In The Trunk Of A Car' is still the acme for me, but who knows? Got a suggestion for a featured cover? Let me know.
