About this map here we are here
See this is us the exit is here and
We've come too far to just feel like this
We've come too far to be feeling like this
Certain certain
You want to want to
Certain certain
You want to want to

About this map it's a bit out of date
Territories shifted and things get renamed
Coups revolutions and boundaries blur
Volcanoes and earthquakes turn words into birds
It's certain certain
You want to want to
Certain certain
You want to want to want to

But - oh - about this map
It goes beyond beyond and oh
Yea, about this map
And, oh, about this map

About this map here we are here
See this is me and there you are there and
There's got to be more than just to despair
There's got to be more than just to despair
I'm certain certain
I want to want to
You're certain certain
You want to want to want to

And - oh - about this map
It goes beyond beyond
Forget about this map
About this map

And Oh about this map
We don't live in our heads
Forget about this map
About this map about this map about this map
About this map

The Modern Spirit - Lyrics

Pin It Now!

Last played: 2013/01/28 Brandon, MB
Debut: 2012/11/03 Chicago, IL
Album: Now For Plan A (2012)
Notes: Played 10 times on the 'Now For Plan ATour'... in spurts.

In the dark before the train
Just beyond the barn glow
Where no dissident remains
Driving it like we stole it

Snow falling a silver poet
To concentrate the gallows
And subtracting us like the wolf does
Driving it like we stole it

But we're getting nearer nearer
Getting near that modern spirit
I can hear it hear it hear it
I can hear that modern spirit

On the open road for boys
A white and an open throat
Night slips back with no noise
Inside the hitch-hiker's coat

But we're getting nearer nearer
Getting near that modern spirit
I can hear it hear it hear it
I can hear the modern spirit

Can't you just hear it hear it hear it
Winter counting everything we're near it
We're getting nearer nearer nearer
Friendship changing everything we're near it
I can hear it

Is this the modern spirit?
Is this the modern spirit. Yeah.
Is this the modern spirit
This is the modern spirit. Yeah.
This is the modern spirit
This is the modern spirit. Yeah.

Yeah? Yeah.

Now For Plan A (song) - Lyrics

Pin It Now!

Last played: 2013/02/14 Toronto, ON
Debut: 2012/11/03 Chicago, IL
Album: Now For Plan A (2012)

Notes: Title track from the 2012 album. Was only play about once every 4 shows on the 'Now For Plan A Tour'. Sarah Harmer sings backing vocals on the album and she appeared with The Hip twice to perform the song near the end of the tour on 2013/02/04 Kingston, ON and 2013/02/14 Toronto, ON. Both of these appearances were during the encore.

Yea, I know I know I know
It's still not enough
Nothing short of everything
Nothing short of everything's enough
No matter how wide or how tough
Nothing short of everything's enough

Yea, I know I know I know
Now for Plan A
I'll stay til the wisteria fades
And falls on LA

No matter how high or how rough
Nothing short of everything's enough

In your face
The endless patience
The fleeting nature of life
On display
And nothing short of everything

I'll stay
Til the wisteria fades
The way it falls all over
LA

Nothing short of everything
No matter how wide or how rough
Nothing short of everything's enough

The Hip Covers Project: Herbert Bail - Locked In The Trunk Of A Car

Pin It Now!

Now this is what I'm talking about! A unique twist on an old favourite...

The second instalment of The Hip Covers Project introduces us to The Herbert Bail Orchestra based out of Los Angeles, CA. For the record this is not a SoCal nepotism thing just because I happen to find myself avoiding Canadian winters these days down here. I literally just happened upon them.

Check out their performance and let me know (and them) what you think. They bring some unusual instruments and a unique cadence to the song.

The Tragically Hip To Play Free Canada Day Show In London's Trafalgar Square

Pin It Now!

The Tragically Hip have announced that they will be performing on Canada Day in London's Trafalgar Square and from the looks of things it's going to be a HUGE party.

Every year there is a "Canada Day In London" celebration in Trafalgar Square which is where Canada House just happens to be located. These celebrations include road hockey, Tim Hortons coffee, poutine & hot wings booths, beer and it also seems to involve dressing up in full on Canadiana --- whatever you deem that to be.

Jann Arden and The Arkells will also be performing.

Did I mention that this is a FREE event? Yep. This will end up being a huge concert from the looks of it. I have spent time in London and there are many, many Canadians living over there. I mean, this appears to be a huge event without The Hip... so 'just add water' as they say.

As always, be sure to check out and register at www.thehip.com for all the 'official' details.

The Tragically Hip Announce Vancouver, Moose Jaw & Estevan, SK for Summer 2013

Pin It Now!

The Tragically Hip have announced four new summer dates for three cities as a part of heir upcoming tour schedule. The and will finally visit Vancouver, BC since the release of their latest album 'Now For Plan A'. I'm not sure why Van City was left off the concert circuit earlier, but what may make up for that omission is the fact that there will be 2 shows at the Orpheum Theatre instead of one show at a large arena. Always a treat on home soil. Think back to the 2009 'WATS Tour'. The shows will take place n Sept. 9th & 10th.

The other 2 dates are for cities that The Hip have never played: Estevan, SK & Moose Jaw, SK and they will take place on 2013/07/08 & 2013/09/06 respectively.

Ticket Info

Estevan, SK 2013/07/08
ticketmaster.ca or Henders Drugs. Yep. You may be able t avoid TicketBastard fees by driving yourself to Henders Drugs which I can only assume is located in Estevan proper. Local story HERE.

Moose Jaw, SK 2013/09/06
On -sale date is April 5, 2013. Info at http://tickets.mosaicplace.ca/

Vancouver, BC 2013/09/09 & 2013/09/10
